Trying to get two or more babies into a sleeping routine?

As a new parent, lack of sleep can be a problem, however for parents of multiple babies getting two or more babies to sleep can be even harder.

There are many reasons why it is more difficult to get two or more babies into a good sleep routine. However, there are some techniques that can certainly help in setting up a good routine in the first months:

Come up with a bedtime routine that suits and make it a habit. Setting a good routine will help the babies settle more quickly.
Try to synchronise feeds as early on as possible. This means if one wakes up you feed the other at the same time. You will need to be prepared that one of the babies will sleep through before the other.
If one of the babies cries don’t rush to pick them up. Usually, the other baby or babies will sleep through the crying.
The babies should be put down on their backs with their feet touching the bottom of the cot or basket.
Make sure their blankets are tucked in, however, you want to make sure they don’t get too hot, especially if they are sleeping together.
If you find that one baby is waking the other, then you may want to try putting them in separate cots. To allow the babies to still see each other and be able to touch each other place their cots side by side. You may find that that one baby prefers a cot and the other may prefer a Moses basket.
