Clocks Spring forward on the 29th March – Sleepytot have some tips for parents

Yes, it’s that time of year again when clocks go forward in the UK for the start of British Summer time.

The good news is that if your little one is in a good sleep routine then their internal clock will more than likely adjust itself naturally as soon as you start putting them to bed at the new time.

However, to help you handle the time change we’ve put together some tips for you to follow:

For 10 -14 days leading up to the 29th, each night start putting your little one to bed 5 minutes earlier.

During this time start to adjust meal and nap times.

Don’t worry if your little one doesn’t adjust straight away – it can take time for their (and our) body clock to adjust.

Avoid getting into bad habits during this adjustment that will cause problems later and keep to the bedroom routine that you have.

Consider using blackout blinds so your little one isn’t affected by the light nights.

Following these tips will help your little one (and yourself) transition with the minimum of fuss.
