Here at Sleepytot, we love bamboo bedding and sleepwear for our babies. It is a little more expensive than cotton and other fabrics, and here are six reasons why:
1 – Bamboo grows really easily and quickly – up to 36 inches a day in some cases! – which means harmful pesticides aren’t needed.
2 – Bamboo fabric is super absorbent, filled with micro holes and micro gaps, which means it has what is called “excellent wicking ability”. This basically means it pulls excess moisture away from the skin and then allows it to evaporate into the air. Perfect for babies and children who are getting a little hot while sleeping.
3 – It has an anti-bacterial agent known as known as bamboo kuhn or kun which means it doesn’t need to be treated with chemicals like most fabrics. These chemicals are known to cause allergic reactions. This is what makes bamboo fabric so perfect for little ones with eczema.
4 – Bamboo kuhn or kun resists the bacteria which usually thrives on clothing and it is naturally hypoallergenic.
5 – It has insulating properties which work to keep your baby’s skin warm when she is cold and cool when she is becoming too warm. Perfect for helping her to maintain an even temperature when sleeping.
6 – It feels like silk, even after you’ve washed it loads of times, making it perfect for your baby’s tender skin.
All of this adds up to a comfortable baby, which means a better night’s sleep for everyone! Convinced? We are. Which is why the baby sleeping bags and baby sleep wear we stock are all made from bamboo.
